The Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP), Gombe state has opened bids for civil work in respect of the FCE – Malam Inna gully erosion site.
Speaking during the bids opening, the State Commissioner of Environment and Forest Resources, Dr. Hussaina Danjuma Goje said communities around the gully have been yearning for intervention for over hundred years.
She said the bids opening which will culminate into award of contract for the civil work was a milestone in the history of the state.

The Commissioner commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for supporting Gombe State NEWMAP in taking gully control measures and reducing vulnerability to soil erosion.
Speaking earlier, the Gombe State NEWMAP Project Coordinator, Engr.
Mohammed Garba thanked the bidders for expressing interest to be part of the present administration’s effort in addressing gully erosion challenges in the state.

10 companies submitted their documents out of 15 that tendered.
Evaluation of the documents has since begun.
