The Bureau of Public Enterprises on Sunday announced the Federal Government’s readiness to begin the process for the concession of federal assets.
The assets include the Tafawa Balewa Trade Fair Complex, Lagos International Trade Fair Complex, Calabar Special Economic Zone and Kano Special Economic Zone.
The BPE stated that later this month it would hold an investors’ webinar to showcase investment opportunities in the assets slated for concession on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

In a statement titled ‘BPE holds investors webinar on four concession opportunities February 23, 2021’ issued in Abuja by its spokesman, Amina Othman, BPE stated that the event will hold at 10am.
According to BPE. the webinar was in line with the new mandate of the bureau as contained in a new Federal Government circular. The circular gave the bureau the responsibility for the concession of public enterprises and infrastructure already listed in the first and second schedules of the Public Enterprises Act.
The bureau also affirmed that it was acting on behalf of the Federal Government as the counterparty on all infrastructure projects being developed on a Public-Private Partnership basis.
“The one-day event will provide a platform for prospective investors to leverage on the vast opportunities in the aforementioned enterprises in line with international best practices,” the bureau stated.
The webinar is expected to attract foreign embassies, high commissions, trade missions, multilateral and bilateral commissions, identified Investors, ministries, state governors, sister agencies and the presidency.
“The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo is expected to give the keynote address,” the bureau stated.
The Minister of Finance, Budget and National, Zainab Ahmed, told lawmakers in January this year, that the Federal Government would sell some of its properties in a bid to fund the 2021 budget. Aside from selling some of its assets to fund the 2021 budget, she said the Federal Government would also engage in domestic and foreign borrowings.
