Between January and May 2021, the Nigerian Customs has raked in a total of N799 billion as revenue from all its operational activities.

Addressing the press in Abuja today, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Customs Service, Mr Joseph Attah, hinged this growth on strict implementation of all extant rules governing imports, exports and excise duties in the country.
Mr Attah also lauded the strategic deployment of officers and automation of the processes and regulations nationwide. Most importantly, he thanked the officers for putting national interest above other secondary considerations.
In his concluding remarks, other reasons for the robust growth are; stakeholders sensitization, increasing level of compliance from stakeholders and improved working relation with the National Assembly.
Going forward, the spokesperson assured Nigerians that the agency under the leadership of retired Col. Hammed Ali, will continue to take strategic actions that would impact positively on national economy.
In a deliberate effort to shore up revenue and block all leakages, recall that naijabusiness.com.ng had earlier reported that the Nigerian Customs had raised a debit note of over N1.1 billion against importers who paid lesser duties to the Federal Government of Nigeria across the six area commands in the South Western part of the country.
